He hates the way the wipes feel, and I hate being so wasteful. I had tried using plain washcloths with warm water in the past (the one time he had diaper rash), but it was kind of a disaster. After reading your post, I bought the Grovia wipes and I couldn't be more thrilled! Thanks for the tip!Mary Parsonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05237476376047962079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2967384373046085399.post-59344050902350228892014-03-10T08:53:42.788-04:002014-03-10T08:53:42.788-04:00Oh, good to know about the prefolds! Do you think ...Oh, good to know about the prefolds! Do you think you would write a blog post in the future about your experience with them? I'm especially curious about the origami folding method. I'm glad to hear that this method is working our for you!Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15323801450928101386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2967384373046085399.post-5893644466491044962014-03-08T02:32:42.706-05:002014-03-08T02:32:42.706-05:00Oh thanks for this, it is so useful, I will defini...Oh thanks for this, it is so useful, I will definitely come back here when we switch to the Bumgenius diapers. After your advice on my post, when we were unsure as to what we would do for the first few months, and a small financial analysis we decided to go for prefolds.

We are really happy with them, we have had a few leaks, but it has mostly been on times where we were still figuring them out, that is: when we accidentally left a little bit of cloth (from the diaper) sticking out on a side of the PUL cover or shell, or when she really really ate a lot in one go and maybe slept longer than 4 hrs in a row (but leaks are not as big of a deal as I imagined, everything just goes in the laundry). We got 20 cotton prefolds (simple squares) that for now we fold using the origami method, and 4 PUL shells, in the small size that is supposed to fit her until 6-7 kg. (13 pounds). The diapers go in the laundry using a similar method as yours, and we wash the shells by hand once a day, but it is quite fast. We are really happy with them, and she has not had a diaper rash (cross our fingers). My mom did use cloth diapers (the terry type) with me and my brother (not my sister) and she said that diaper rash will inevitably happen to babies at one point or another regardless of the diaper (she used both types, disposables on my sis) .

We are using the biodegradable paper liners that get thrown away in the toilet. Because of the way our toilet is we could not install a sprayer and we liked the principle that the paper lets pass the moisture so that the baby is supposed to stay a bit drier than if it was sitting directly on the stools.
